Missing hiker located deceased

On May 21, 2021, two friends were hiking in the area of Mt. Fromme, in North Vancouver. During their hike, they became separated. One of the pair returned to their vehicle, however when his companion did not return, he contacted North Vancouver RCMP and reported his friend missing. 
Officers commenced a missing person investigation, and contacted North Shore Rescue to request their assistance. North Shore Rescue activated a search, including the use of ground search personnel and a helicopter. The search continued until dark, and was again resumed this morning at 6:00 a.m., 2021-05-22. 
Sadly, at around 10:30 this morning, the missing man was located deceased, a short distance from the location where the pair became separated. By all accounts, this appears to be a tragic accident.
BC Coroners Service now has conduct of this investigation. Out of respect for the family’s privacy, the name of the man is not being released.
