Truck collision and fire under investigation

Police are investigating after a collision on the West Trans Canada Highway caused a truck to catch fire.

On Monday Aug. 2, 2021, around 5:50 p.m., Kamloops RCMP received a report of a motor vehicle incident involving two tractor-trailer trucks in the westbound lanes near the 1700-block of the West Trans Canada Highway.

According to the initial investigation, a truck caught fire after it rear-ended another truck. Fire was on scene tending to the flames when police arrived. Both drivers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The road was closed briefly, then reopened partially while police collected evidence and clean up occurred. The investigation is ongoing.
