Police look for witnesses to weapons call downtown

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is looking for witnesses following a report involving a man with an axe yesterday afternoon.

On Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, around 1:40 p.m., police were called to the area of Victoria Street and 3rd Avenue for a report of a man walking downtown with an axe and yelling at two people. Frontline officers attended and located a man known to police, alone with an axe, in a parking lot on the 500-block of Seymour Street.

The man was arrested and the axe was seized as part of the ongoing investigation. No victims were located or came forward, nor were any reports of injuries received.
