File # 2022-18693

The photographs released to identify potential suspects were recovered as part of an active investigation and have generated favourable tips for investigators.

Investigators have conducted multiple interviews, reviewed hours of CCTV footage from North Fraser Pretrial and other locations, and recovered the suspect vehicle that will be forensically examined. After reviewing CCTV footage no useful images have been identified for release to the public to further the investigation. Identification left behind at the scene was distributed to various police agencies both locally and internationally. Based on intelligence received from other law enforcement partners, Coquitlam RCMP decided it was in the best interest of the investigation to quickly release the images of the two tentatively identified suspects. This is a multi-level investigation, and details are developing at a rapid pace.

It is believed that the suspects who helped ALKHALIL escape bear a close resemblance to the identification they left behind, but those images are not them, says Constable Deanna Law, spokesperson for the Coquitlam RCMP. Locating Alkhalil is the top priority for Coquitlam RCMP and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU). Investigators are working around the clock, proactively generating and chasing all leads to locate Alkhalil and all suspects involved.

Coquitlam RCMP are working closely with CFSEU, Vancouver Police Department, Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA), and International Law Enforcement Agencies to locate Alkhalil, the two suspects that assisted in his escape, and all other suspects involved. A Canada-wide arrest warrant and an Orange Notice have been issued and an Interpol Red Notice is pending.

Coquitlam RCMP is working closely with North Fraser Pre-trial who is cooperating in this investigation. Alkhalil is considered dangerous, so if you see Alkhalil, or the men who helped Alkhalil escape police ask that you not approach them and instead call 911 immediately.
