RCMP seeking the public’s assistance in ongoing fatal collision investigation near UBC

The University RCMP Detachment and the BC RCMP Major Crime Unit are calling on the public to help further their investigation into the deaths of two 18-year-old UBC students, in Vancouver, BC.
On September 26, 2021, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the University RCMP Detachment, Vancouver Fire Department and BC EHS responded to the 7400 block of SW Marine Drive, for a motor vehicle collision in which two pedestrians were struck by an SUV and ultimately succumbed to their injuries. The suspect vehicle also collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle at the scene. Police arrested a 21-year-old male and he was released on conditions, pending further investigation. Police are continuing to investigate whether speed, alcohol or drug impairment are factors in this collision.
The suspect vehicle is described as a light silver/grey 2004 BMW X3 2.5i SUV, with after-market black rims. Investigators are seeking to speak to any witnesses who may have observed this vehicle prior to the collision, and are also seeking dash-cam video recording the suspect vehicle driving in the area of UBC, Pacific Spirit Park and Vancouver between midnight and 1:30 am on the morning of September 26, 2021.
The University RCMP Detachment, with the assistance of the BC RCMP Major Crime Unit, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS), the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) and the B.C.
