The BC RCMP Community Policing Services is recruiting volunteers for the 2021-2022 BC RCMP Youth Advisory Committee (BC RCMP YAC). If you are or know anyone who is a youth in British Columbia with a passion for contributing to change, this is great opportunity!
The BC RCMP Youth Advisory Committee brings together up to 30 youth aged 14 to 18 from all across British Columbia to discuss important issues that they face in their respective communities. The purpose of the BC RCMP Advisory Committee is to represent the youth voice within the RCMP and to gain insight on how the RCMP can deliver effective youth strategies and initiatives.
The feedback from past youth advisors has always been overwhelmingly positive as they gain deep insight into policing and the challenges the BC RCMP are faced with.
Matthew, a past youth advisor stated that
My experiences with RCMP Youth Advisory have helped me shape the person I am and hope to become. It has helped me become confident speaking out about injustices that I witness, and helped me develop other initiatives I'm involved with. I am a proud RCMP Youth Advisor.
For their participation, youth will:
- Be eligible for a letter of reference
- Connect with other youth across BC
- Play a vital role in the shaping of how the BC RCMP supports youth
Youth can email email@example.com for an application. Completed applications must be returned by September 21, 2021. If chosen as a youth advisor, participation will run from October 2021 to June 2022.
