File # 2024-30720

A man was taken into custody as part of a police investigation into a downtown business break and enter last week.

On Sunday Sept. 15, 2024, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received a report of a break and enter which had occurred earlier that morning, around 4:15 a.m. Two people allegedly broke into a commercial location on the 1000-block of Victoria Street, stole items, then fled through the back entranceway. Before the end of the day, police had located and arrested both suspects.

While responding to another call for service, police recognized the male suspect and arrested him for that morning’s break and enter, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. Shortly after, a female suspect was also identified, located, and arrested.

The male suspect was taken into custody and later released with conditions and a court date. The next morning, he was arrested again in relation to another investigation, charged for the break and enter, and remanded in-custody on charges related to the new offences.

The woman was released without process, following further investigation.
