Nanaimo RCMP seeking witnesses to an altercation with weapons

The Nanaimo RCMP is requesting the help of witnesses who may have information about an altercation that happened on March 21, 2024, around 10:40 pm, in the 2500 block of Labieux Road, Nanaimo, BC.

A 15-year-old female was assaulted by a young woman whom she knew. The 15-year-old sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being struck with a baton. The investigators believe that a group of young people witnessed the altercation and that someone recorded the incident on video.

As the investigation continued, the police learnt that the young woman and another female flagged down a passing motorist on Labieux Road. The unknown person drove the young women to a residence on the 600 block of 2nd Street in Nanaimo.

On March 22, 2024, the Nanaimo RCMP arrested the young woman, also a minor; she had received minor injuries from a bladed weapon during the altercation.

The police are requesting the help of anyone who may have witnessed an altercation that took place between 10 pm and 11 pm on March 21, 2024. They are also asking anyone with a recording of the incident to come forward. Additionally, if you gave a ride to two young women from Labieux Road to a residence in the 600 block of 2nd Street, that night, the Nanaimo RCMP is urging you to contact them at 250-754-2345 and reference file # 2024-8771.
