I was shopping at a local store in Chilliwack and the young male cashier who was serving me said, Hey, you were my D.A.R.E. instructor.

A conversation ensued and he told me that he is starting his last year of Criminology this fall, and that he would be applying for the RCMP after he graduates.

I congratulated him on his successes and wished him luck with his RCMP application. He turned to me and said, I want to be an RCMP officer because of you.

I felt great that I was able to be a positive influence in his life even nine years after and that he still remembers the impact of D.A.R.E.
