Lights

Motor Vehicle Act states that fog lights must be wired in so that they can come on with the park light system. Only two (2) fog lamps are allowed and can only be used in substitution of the headlights when fog is present. Driving lights must be wired in so that they can only come on with the high beam headlight and they must be mounted at a height between 40cm and 106cm. No person shall drive a motor vehicle with more than three (3) lighted lamps (exceeding 15 candle power) in addition to the headlights.

Lowered Vehicles

Motor Vehicle Act states that a person shall not operate a motor vehicle designed or modified so that a portion of it, other than the wheels is in contact with the roadway, or has less clearance from the surface of a level roadway than the lowest point on the rim of any wheel in contact with the roadway.

Raising or Lowering Vehicles

Motor Vehicle Act regulations applies to vehicles altered by changes to its suspension height by more than 10cm from the original basic specification of the vehicle manufacturer. No person shall drive, operate or park a vehicle until it has been inspected and passed by an approved facility.

Tires

Motor Vehicle Act states studded tires are allowed from October 1st to April 30th. Studded tires are prohibited on Provincial Highways i.e. Lougheed Highway, Haney By-Pass from May 1st to September 30th.

Window Tinting

Motor Vehicle Act states that no person shall drive or operate on a highway a motor vehicle which has affixed to or placed on the windshield or a window any material that reduces the light transmitted through the windshield or window unless the material is affixed to or placed on the windshield but not more than 75 mm below the top of the windshield a side window that is behind the driver, or the rear window if the motor vehicle is equipped with outside rear view mirrors on the left and right side of the motor vehicle. 

In other words, no tint (including light tinting) is allowed on windshields below 75 mm from the top and no tint is permitted on the driver’s side windows, right or left. Tint may be installed on the side windows behind the driver. Tint may also be applied to the window provided the vehicle has two exterior rear view mirrors.
