Business Watch - Crime Map - December 2016
Business Watch is a partnership between local Burnaby business communities, the City of Burnaby, and the RCMP.
Our goal is to provide tools and resources to help reduce business-related crime. These maps reflect crime trends in the business community. When incidents are reported to police the information is used to deploy resources strategically, identify crime hot spots, and analyze trends and patterns.
The maps are provided as a tool to promote awareness and crime reduction throughout the business communities. Check out the Business Watch website for more information

Vehicle Crime Prevention Tips
- White panel vans are a target for tools and merchandise. These vehicles can also be used while committing other crimes. Reinforcing locks on work vans can protect vehicles most frequently targeted by Burnaby criminals.
- Vehicles with items inside are gifts for criminals as they look for easy crimes of opportunity. Parcels, packages, and personal belongings should not be in the vehicle. Items can be placed in the trunk if there is no other option.
- Leaving vehicles unsecured is still the number one way criminals commit auto crimes. Lock it!
- Leaving vehicles running to warm up in the winter gives a criminal easy access to commit auto crimes. After work many employees may come out to a frozen vehicle. Avoid leaving vehicles unoccupied with the motor running or keys inside. When warming up your vehicle, use a remote starter, stay inside it, or secure it to prevent easy access.
