Two vehicle collision:

While on routine patrol, during a power outage on August 24th, 2023, a Kitimat RCMP officer came across a two-vehicle collision at the intersection on Lahakas Blvd and Haisla Blvd. The investigation revealed that both vehicles entered the intersection from different directions, causing a T-bone type of collision. Lucky there was no injuries reported. Charges against the offending driver are being considered. The Kitimat RCMP would like to remind drivers that if you come to an intersection, and the traffic lights are out, you must resort to the 4 way stop rules. (2023-3219)

Breaching conditions:

A Kitimat RCMP officer attended a local residence for a file follow up on August 25th, 2023. While at the residence, the officer located a suspect who had a warrant for their arrest and was breaching current release conditions. As a result, the suspect was arrested and transported to the Kitimat RCMP detachment cells. A new court date was provided for the warrant and also to answer to the new charges. (2023-3232)

Damaged vehicle:

On August 26th, 2023, the Kitimat RCMP received a mischief to a vehicle call at a residence in a Nechako neighborhood. It was reported that an unknown culprit had covered a vehicle in paint. The investigation included canvassing the area for surveillance footage, however a suspect has yet to be identified. (2023-3255)

Driving prohibition:

The manner a vehicle was being operated on Columbia Ave West, on August 27th, 2023, caught the attention of a Kitimat RCMP officer. A traffic stop was conducted and it was found that the driver was to be served a 3-month driving prohibition. The driver was served with the driving prohibition and a violation ticket for the driving infraction that originally caused the traffic stop. (2023-3272)

Mischief x2:

The Kitimat RCMP received two reports of Mischief on Albatross Ave on August 28th, 2023. The first report was of a cargo trailer that had its tires slashed, and an unknown person(s) had broken into the trailer sometime over the weekend. In the same period of time, a backyard gate appeared to have been kicked, causing damage. It is unknown if the two files are related at this time. Hit and run:

A hit and run collision was reported to the Kitimat RCMP on August 29th, 2023. It was reported that a vehicle had collided with a parked vehicle on the 200 block of City Centre, causing slight damage, then left. A witness was able to provide the information of the offending vehicle. The responding Kitimat RCMP officer located the registered owner of the vehicle and issued a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident. (2023-3291)
