On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, Terrace RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 16 near Usk Frontage Road approximately 20 kms east of Terrace.

Once on scene police found two pickup trucks, a Ford and a Toyota, had collided head on. The driver of the Ford was trapped inside the vehicle, while the driver of the Toyota was out of the vehicle.

The driver of the Ford, an adult man, was extracted form the vehicle, taken to hospital but sadly was later pronounced deceased. The other driver received injuries that have been described as non-life-threatening.

The investigation is active as police work to determine what casual factors may have contributed to this crash. Highway 16 was closed to all traffic but has since reopened.
