Kitimat RCMP weekly report July 6th- July 12th 2023

Intoxicated youth:

On July 6th at 1130 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a complaint of intoxicated youth in the area of Nechako school. Officers attended and located 3 youth who had consumed alcohol. The officers transported the youth home to their parent-guardians.

Broken down truck:

On July 7th at 1:10 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a complaint of a truck with trailer that appeared to be broken down on Highway 37. An officer attended and checked with the driver who stated that a mechanic was enroute to help. The officer waited with the driver until the mechanic arrived.

Intoxicated Patron:

On July 8th at 12:27 am, the Kitimat RCMP attended to a liquor establishment after staff advised of an intoxicated patron. An officer attended however the patron had already left on foot. Patrols of the area were negative.

Light Post Hit in Parking Lot:

On July 9th at 8:30 pm, an officer on foot patrol in Mountain view Square heard a tire squeal and turned around to notice a truck had struck a light post. The officer caught up to the vehicle as it departed and the driver stated that the sun was in his eyes. A check of the drivers’ license indicated that it was expired. A violation ticket was issued to the driver for having an expired driver’s license. There was no damage to the light post or vehicle.

Driving Prohibition Served:

On July 10th at 9:00 pm, an officer conducted a vehicle stop with a vehicle after noting that the registered owner was flagged as a vehicle impound candidate. The driver was served with a Driving Prohibition on behalf of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicle and the vehicle was impounded. A violation ticket for no driver’s license was also served.

Check Well Being:

On July 11th at 10:30 am, the Kitimat RCMP received a complaint that a toddler was trying to get into their house. An officer attended and located the toddler’s parents who lived nearby. The parent was unaware that the toddler had left their house. The complainant was updated.

Noise By-law:

On July 12th at 11:45 pm, the Kitimat RCMP responded to a by-law noise complaint. Upon attendance the subject of complaint was asked to turn the music down. The subject of complaint was cooperative and apologetic. The complainant was updated.
