On Thursday, June 2, 2022 Fort St James RCMP were advised of a potential threat to the safety of students and staff at a local school.

RCMP immediately responded and learned of a conversation had between two students of David Hoy School. The Initial findings did not indicate an immediate threat to the students and staff, however this sort of thing is taken very serious, said Cpl James Potyok, Fort St James RCMP.

Police quickly identified and located students believed to have direct knowledge of this and the necessary investigative steps were taken to ensure the safety of everyone. Police have interviewed a number of individuals and is working closely with the Superintendent of School District 91.

This investigation is ongoing and police do not believe there is a safety risk at this time.
