File # 2024-2805

On March 30, 2024 at approximately 10:00 PM, Port Alberni RCMP officers attended a local liquor store and discovered a stabbing had occurred.

Front line officers were assisted by Port Alberni General Investigative Services (GIS) and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) to complete a thorough investigation. While working to collect all the evidence, officers reviewed the available video which depicted the culprit brutally attacking the unsuspecting victim, before stealing liquor from the store and then fleeing the area.

Several hours later, on March 31, 2024 officers located the culprit on the south side of town. The culprit, a sixteen-year-old boy, was arrested for attempted murder and robbery. After a bail hearing, he was held in custody, to appear in court later this month.

The robbery and assault that occurred were difficult to see. Our team of investigators worked tirelessly throughout the night and well into the following day to ensure a complete report to crown counsel was compiled and forwarded.

The victim was transported to a trauma hospital where she was treated for her injuries. The Port Alberni RCMP wish her a speedy and full recovery.
