The Williams Lake RCMP is proud to announce three local residents being sworn in as Reserve Constables of the RCMP. Retired police officers, Cst. Rick Meaver, Cpl. Gordon Rutherford and S/Sgt John Dryder will re-engage with the RCMP in their new role as Reserve Constables. A Reserve Constable holds the same status as a sworn in police officer at the rank of Constable. It permits the RCMP to utilize their expertise and deploy them during resource gaps, transfers, leave, training and other specialized projects. This is not limited to Williams Lake detachment, as other policing jurisdictions with B.C., can call upon them for their services. All three police officers have thirty years of service or more when they were serving with the RCMP prior to retirement.

Insp. Jeff Pelley states, I look forward to having these three members work within Williams Lake and the surrounding area. It was an honour to swear these police officers in given their diverse background, experience and dedication to the community. These police officers bring a wide range of expertise and service that will serve the community well in addressing our strategic priorities, crime trends and continuing to enhance our policing successes.
