Two vehicle collision on Hwy 97 near McLeese Lake results in fatality

The Williams Lake RCMP and RCMP Cariboo Chilcotin Region Traffic Services are continuing their investigation into the fatal two vehicle collision, which occurred on Sunday on Highway 97 between McLeese Lake & Wildwood, BC.

On Sunday November 5, 2017 at approximately 10:11 pm, the Williams Lake RCMP received a complaint of a two vehicle collision on Highway 97 at Robertson Rd in the 5755 Block of Hwy 97 north of Williams Lake, BC. On scene, RCMP investigators determined that a 2006 Acura CSX 4 door sedan driven by a male driver from Comox was Southbound on Hwy 97, when the vehicle crossed the center line and side swiped a northbound 2006 Dodge one ton pick-up truck. The impact caused the Dodge truck to overturn in the northbound curb lane trapping the male driver inside the vehicle. The 44 year-old Kitimat male driver of the pick-up truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The RCMP Cariboo Chilcotin Region Traffic Services and BC Coroners Services are continuing their investigation into the collision and the man’s death.

No further information is being released at this time.
