File # 2017-3203

On Saturday April 29th 2017 at 0:55 AM Williams Lake RCMP were called to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Horsefly Road in Horsefly BC. When police arrived on scene they found a Toyota Tacoma pickup had left the roadway, rolled and collided with a BC Hydro pole. The crash broke off the power pole which landed on the driver’s compartment of the pickup.

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene and two passengers were taken to hospital with injuries that have3 been described as serious in nature. A fourth passenger was uninjured.

A Collision Reconstructionist was called to the scene to assist the Williams Lake RCMP. The investigation is ongoing however, at this time, police believe alcohol to be a causal factor in the crash.

The crash resulted in the loss of power to approximately 600 residents in the Horsefly area. The road was close to traffic in both directions as investigators gathered evidence in this matter. The road has since been reopened to single lane alternating traffic as BC Hydro personnel complete the installation of a new power pole.

Names are not being released at this time. Police are asking anyone who may have information on this crash to call the Williams Lake RCMP at 250 392-6211 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222-8477
