Plain clothes police officer enter the storefront

Two individuals were arrested in the afternoon of February 15, 2017 after West Shore RCMP executed a search warrant at the Medical Marijuana Dispensary in the 600 block of Granderson Rd in Langford.

The storefront had illegally reopened its doors over the weekend contrary to municipal and federal regulations.

Police seized an undisclosed amount of marijuana products.

There is no legal mechanism in Canada which allows for medicinal marijuana dispensaries or compassion clubs to sell marijuana to the public, regardless of whether or not the purchasing individual(s) have licenses to possess marihuana or whether or not the vendor has a license to produce marihuana.

Businesses and/or individuals operating in contravention of the CDSA and Health Canada regulations may be subject to investigation and criminal charges in accordance with Canadian laws.

West Shore RCMP will continue to work with municipal authorities to ensure compliance under municipal bylaws and statutory laws.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
