On January 17th, 2017, West Shore RCMP have seized marihuana from an unauthorized Medical Marihuana Dispensary in the 600 block of Granderson Rd in Langford.
The Dispensary had opened its doors yesterday.
West Shore RCMP investigators conducted a compliance check at the storefront and observed evidence of possible offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and took enforcement actions accordingly.
There is no legal mechanism in Canada which allows for
medicinal marihuana dispensaries or
compassion clubs to sell marihuana to the public, regardless of whether or not the purchasing individual(s) have licenses to possess marihuana or whether or not the vendor has a license to produce marihuana.
Businesses and/or individuals operating in contravention of the CDSA and Health Canada regulations may be subject to investigation and criminal charges in accordance with Canadian laws.
West Shore RCMP will continue to work with municipal authorities to ensure compliance under municipal bylaws and statutory laws.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
