On January 12, 2017, at around 6:35 a.m., West Shore RCMP received a report of an injured cat in the 2500 block of Sooke Rd in Colwood, BC.
An officer was dispatched to that location and found a black male cat lying in the ditch, bleeding from its mouth.
Initial assessment of the situation led to believe the cat had been previously struck by a vehicle. The cat appeared to be freezing and was not able to walk. The officer retrieved a blanket from his police car and was able to wrap the cat in it and transport it to the Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital where it was treated for its injuries. It is expected to survive.
The cat has also been reunited with its owner after several days of being missing.
