File # 2017-5134
West Shore RCMP credits an alert citizen who reported a suspicious vehicle which led to the arrest of two alleged thieves.
At around 5:00 a.m. on Sunday April 16, a concerned citizen called police to report a white pickup truck parked against the back of a tire shop in the 2600 block of Sooke Rd in Langford.
Police attended to investigate and found a female inside the pickup truck and a male crawling on the ground next to the truck. Police also observed a quantity of tires in the back of the truck, believed to be recently stolen from the shop.
Both individuals were arrested at the scene and a representative of the shop was able to confirm that the tires belonged to their shop. It appeared the suspects were able to make their way into the fenced compound in order to steal the tires.
Both suspects, Andrew TRUEMAN (37 years old) and Carol POOLE (45 years old) of Sidney, have been released on bail following a Judicial Justice of the Peace hearing and are set to appear in court again on May 4, 2017.
Police would like to remind the public if you notice suspicious activity, don't hesitate, call the police immediately. Report suspicious activity while it is happening – Try to get a description of the suspects and their vehicle (including licence plate). Do not confront the suspects. Let the police determine if it’s a crime in progress.
