File # 2017-1808

Two mounties with two female hikers that were found on the mountain

On February 7, 2017, at around 7:40 p.m., West Shore RCMP received a report of two lost hikers on Mount Finlayson.

Two hikers from the Lower Mainland had gone up the mountain to watch the sunset and got lost as darkness fell. Adding on to the hikers misfortune, they believed to be stalked by a cougar.

Mounties undertook a 15 minute hike in the dark and began their search for the lost hikers. They were eventually able to locate them by calling them out and orienting themselves towards the sound of their voice.

Police eventually escorted the two hikers down the mountain, uninjured and happy to be back down!
