Police Searching for Property Crime Suspect

Surrey RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man who escaped from police while at hospital.
On December 28th, 2017, at 2:40 pm, Surrey RCMP arrested Richard MANTLER, 46 years old of no fixed address, for several property and related offences. Prior to being lodged in cells, MANTLER was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. While at hospital and under police guard, MANTLER fled through an emergency exit while he was handcuffed. Officers and Police Dog Services were not able to locate MANTLER.
MANTLER is now wanted for escape from lawful custody. He is described as a Caucasian male, 6’0, 216 lbs., with short brown hair and hazel eyes. MANTLER was wearing a white Adidas t-shirt with a red logo, blue jeans, and black shoes.
If you know the whereabouts or have any information about MANTLER, police want to hear from you right away, says Corporal Scotty Schumann.
MANTLER is not believed to be a risk to the public and is known primarily for property offences.
