Pedestrian Struck - 72nd Avenue and 120th Street

*UPDATE* - The victim in this incident, an 80 year old Surrey resident, has been pronounced deceased. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors. This is the seventh pedestrian fatality in Surrey this year and the nineteenth traffic fatality. 

Surrey RCMP is currently on scene at a pedestrian motor vehicle incident in the Newton area of Surrey.

On December 15, 2017 at 2:38pm a pedestrian was struck in the 7200 block of 120th Street. The pedestrian, a man in his 80's, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver has remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. It is not known if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk. The contributing factors to the collision are currently under investigation.

Surrey RCMP's Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) is currently on scene and investigating the collision. Traffic in the area has not been affected and there are no road closures.
