File # Surrey RCMP 2017-151334/ IHIT 2017-1584
Surrey RCMP along with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is currently on scene investigating a shots fired call in South Surrey, where one person has passed away due to his injuries.
On October 23rd at 2:10am Surrey RCMP received calls of shots heard near the 14300 block of Crescent Road. Officers located one man nearby suffering from gunshot wounds and, despite all attempts to assist the individual, he succumbed to his injuries. The RCMP also received a call from a woman suffering from gunshot wounds who had driven herself a short distance away from the scene. That woman is in serious condition at hospital.
Based on the investigative theory in this initial phase, this does not appear to be a random act.
The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. IHIT has been called and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP.
Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, no further information will be provided at this time.
Further details and media availability will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.
