File # 2017-59950
Surrey RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a serious assault this past weekend in South Surrey.
On May 6th, at 1:25am, Surrey RCMP was called to the 3100 block of King George Boulevard for a report of a fight at a pub which eventually spilled onto the street. One man was accosted by possibly 4 to 5 other males and then left behind unconscious and suffering from a serious, non-life threatening head injury. Witnesses assisted the victim, who is still in hospital, until first responders arrived on scene.
Surrey RCMP’s General Investigation Unit is leading this investigation. One of the suspects was known to the victim, and has since been arrested. No formal charges have been laid at this point and the suspect was released with a promise to appear in court at a later date. Several witnesses were spoken to and surveillance video in the area was reviewed. Officers believe there are still more witnesses who may be able to assist in identifying the other male suspects and are appealing for those people to contact police.
If you saw the fight or the suspects, or if you know who the identity of any of suspects, police would like to speak to you, says Corporal Scotty Schumann.
What you saw, no matter how insignificant you think the detail is, may help police identify the outstanding suspects.
Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
