On December 27, 2017 at approximately 11:25 PST the Revelstoke RCMP was advised of a collision between three vehicles on Highway #1 near Summit Lake located approximately 40 km west of Revelstoke, B.C.

We are still investigating the cause of the collision however initial reports indicate that a vehicle bearing Manitoba plates was travelling west bound when it crossed over the centre line and made contact with an east bound vehicle from Alberta. This contact caused the west bound vehicle to rotate further into the east bound lane where it was struck on the passenger’s side by another second east bound vehicle.

The passenger of the west bound vehicle was pronounced dead on scene. The driver and remaining three passengers, one critical and one serious have been transported to hospitals in both Salmon Arm and Kamloops. Only minor injuries reported from other vehicles.

Traffic was stopped for four hours during the investigation of this collision.
