File # 2024-1184

A Kamloops woman remains in custody today after allegedly colliding with a police cruiser in a stolen vehicle on Friday afternoon.

Just before 4 p.m. on January 12, 2024, Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline officers were called to the 600-block of Alberni Avenue, for a report that a vehicle had been just been stolen from that location.

Officers tracked the vehicle to an area in the 600-block of Kamloopa Road, said Staff Sergeant Janelle Shoihet of the Kamloops RCMP. The driver allegedly collided with a police vehicle while attempting to evade capture. She was arrested without incident after the vehicle she was driving, became disabled.

Shaina Juarez, 23, of Kamloops, has been charged with two counts of fail to comply with a court order and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, and theft of a motor vehicle.
She is expected to appear in Kamloops court on Tuesday Jan. 16, 2024.

Anyone who was a witness to the incident and has not already spoken with police is asked to contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800 and reference file 2024-1184.
