File # 2017-16747

The following incidents occurred over the past week in Penticton:

2017-16747 At 535 pm, Penticton RCMP members observed a Chevrolet Astro van in the 300 block of Main Street that had been associated to numerous crimes in the Okanagan. The vehicle fled from police and was later located and stopped on Eckhardt Avenue. The driver, 37 year old Andrew Sanderson, was found to be in breach of a number of court imposed conditions, driving while prohibited and had warrants of arrest from Vernon and Salmon Arm. The 36 year old female passenger was also arrested for breaching conditions.

2017-16874 At 345 am, police observed a male riding a bicycle on Jermyn Avenue and arrested him on an outstanding warrant. He was found to be in possession of numerous drugs and was released on a Promise to Appear for possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking.

2017-16883 At 930 am, Penticton RCMP responded to a gun complaint where a passing motorist observed a male point a handgun at the back of two males who were walking away from him, south on Main Street. Extensive patrols were made for the male who was described as 5’ 8 tall, with a Mohawk style haircut and face tattoos. Police located a male matching this exact description on Skaha Lake road and took him into custody. It was determined that this was not the suspect in the initial complaint and he was released. The suspect was located at 1050 am at Main Street and Industrial Avenue where he was taken into custody. A replica handgun was found in his possession. 36 year old, Brian Harbison of Kelowna, was held in custody and appeared in court on Monday.

2017-17016 At 510 pm, police responded to an unresponsive male in a pickup truck parked on the shoulder of the highway north of Penticton. BC Ambulance and Penticton Fire Department responded and provided lifesaving efforts to the male, who did not survive. The investigation has been turned over to the BC Coroners Office.
