Police Information Checks (PIC)

Am I able to get a Certified Criminal Record Check (fingerprints) during current travel restrictions?

The Prince George RCMP’s most recent risk assessment, following the Provincial Health Order’s latest travel restrictions, has concluded that to minimize risk to our staff and the public, Prince George RCMP will only do electronic fingerprints for those who reside in the Prince George policing area. This allows provision of increased safety measures to our staff and public, while continuing to provide this necessary service.

Each detachment area has completed a similar exercise and, due to their unique situations, has determined their own policy to meet safety requirements in their local area.

Police Information Checks (PIC), formerly called Criminal Record Checks, can be obtained for the purpose of volunteer work, employment, practicum, or school within Canada. Individuals must present two pieces of government issued identification, one of which must be photo identification. The fee for a Police Information Check is $68.00 and is payable by exact cash, Interac, Visa or MasterCard.

You must be a resident of Prince George or surrounding area to obtain a Police Information Check (PIC) from the Prince George RCMP. If you do not reside in Prince George or surrounding area, you must attend the RCMP Detachment or police department in the community where you reside. The fees may differ from community to community.

There is no fee for a Police Information Check if you are volunteering with a non-profit organization. In order to have the fee waived you must provide a volunteer letter on agency letterhead that shows letterhead and full address of the organization. The letter must include:
