Victim Services - Crisis Intervention Unit

The North Vancouver RCMP Crisis Intervention Unit provides support to victims and witnesses of crime and other significant traumatic events.

The Crisis Intervention Unit is comprised of a supervisor, full-time staff and auxiliary staff. They offer practical assistance, emotional support, referrals and court orientation and accompaniment. They also provide information on the Victims of Crime Act, where legislation defines a victims rights, and the Crime Victim Assistance Program, when an individual may be eligible for benefits such as counselling or crime scene cleaning.

Upon police request, a Crisis Intervention Unit staff member will attend the scene of the incident, the detachment, the hospital or the victim’s home.

The Crisis Intervention Unit is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to attend calls outs at the request of police. General public are able to reach them by phone Monday to Friday 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. and weekends and statutory holidays 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. If you have been a victim or witness of a crime or have experienced trauma and would like assistance, please contact 604-969-7540.

Prevention of Violence against Women Week

North Vancouver RCMP is reaffirming its support for victims of gender-based violence for Prevention of Violence against Women Week, taking place April 14-20, 2024.

Gender-based violence (GBV) refers to the harmful acts directed at an individual based on their gender, gender expression, gender identity or perceived gender. While anyone can be affected by gender-based violence, Women, girls, Indigenous peoples and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community are more at risk of experiencing GBV.

Victim Services regularly supports victims of gender-based violence victims. In 2023, they responded to 240 intimate partner violence police reports and 69 family violence reports.

Court Services Online (CSO) is an electronic service to provide access to government information. Through CSO, the public can search Provincial and Supreme Civil Files, Court of Appeal Files, Provincial Traffic and Criminal Court Files with the capacity from electronic document viewing and printing.
