Pedestrian struck by vehicle, Hit and Run

Surrey RCMP is informing the public of a collision involving a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, on February 12th, 2024, in the Newton area of Surrey.

On February 12th at 10:32 PM, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle, in the 12200 block of 82nd Avenue. The suspect vehicle, a smaller model SUV was making a right-turn south-bound onto 122A Street when it struck the pedestrian. The vehicle stopped momentarily, then proceeded to flee south on 122A Street. The vehicle appears to be dark grey or black in colour and will likely have sustained front-end damage.

An adult female pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital with severe injuries to her lower extremities.

Police are currently on scene canvassing for witnesses and video. Anyone with more information, including dash cam footage from the area of 122A Street and 82nd Avenue between 10:30 pm and 11:00 pm, is asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2024-20946.

Surrey RCMP is kindly requesting that motorists avoid the area of 122A Street and 82nd Avenue for the foreseeable future.
