File # 2022-134193

Update: As of September 5, 2022 at 6:30 a.m. all roads were reopened to regular traffic flow.

Surrey RCMP is currently on scene assisting Surrey Fire Service and BC Hydro with an electrical issue and a traffic interruption on 176th street (Highway 15), between 60th avenue and 64th avenue.

On September 4, 2022, at approximately 10:46 p.m., Surrey RCMP and Surrey Fire Service attended the area of 176th Street and 64th Avenue, for a report of a fire on a Hydro pole. The fire is not believed to be suspicious, but has caused a power outage in the area.

BC Hydro is currently on scene addressing the issue, but traffic lights are not functioning and traffic is blocked on 176th street from 64th avenue to 60th avenue, as repairs are completed.

It is expected that traffic will be shut down on 176th street for several hours, and motorists, including commercial traffic, are asked to find an alternate route.
